The calligraphy is inspired by the Mira calligraphiae monumenta (the Model Book of Calligraphy) of Rudolf II, as found in the modern publication The Art of the Pen first published by the J. Paul Getty Museum and Thames & Hudson in 1992.

The line drawings are from Albrecht Dürer's 1512 German fencing manual MS 26-232, specifically the images found on folio 65r.

Paper: Peramenata, 230gsm, Natural

Materials: Oak gall ink, Mitchell #1 nib for the first line in gold, #3 nib for the first two black lines and then #5 nib for the main body of text. Holbein "Pearl Gold" gouache.
