Hobbe Yonge (Order of the Sagittarius)

Order of the Sagittarius
Bjorn's Ceilidh and Baronial Investiture, Concordia of the Snows
Awarded November 13, 2010 AS XLV (45)

Accepted an assignment from the EK Signet. Talked with a specific wordsmith who has agreed to write the words for this award. I'm quite excited about this one =)

October 20, 2010: Finally have the words from my over worked word-smith and I have to say that they have done a phenomenal job, I can't wait for this to be read.

November 6, 2010: This has been a comedy of errors. I had a plan, it went out of the window, I lost the email which contained the award text and had to wait for the wordsmith to rescue me, then when I was finally most of the way through writing it out I screw it up and had to start again.

**sigh**

But, the end is in sight and it will be completed by Saturday.

Hobbe Yonge (Order of the Sagittarius)

Details:
Calligraphy & Illumination by Isabel Chamberlaine. Inspired by a 'Collection of grammatical, rhetorical and moral texts' housed in the British Library and dated to the first quarter of the 16th century.

Paper: Heavyweight Pergamenata, 230gsm.
Materials: Walnut ink, W&N 'Spectrum Red' gouache.

Words by Lady Aoife inghean Conchobair & Master Toki Redbeard.

King Gryffith and Aikaterine his beneficent Queen heard rumors of the prowess and skill of one man of their Court. After hearing praise for Lord Hobbe Yonge from their Order of the Sagittarius, Gryffith, Troubadour King, spoke these words:

Great deeds from soul of border reaver spring,
who claims no whit to care for English king.
Enigma, he, this man well-serves the crown
and yet would raid and steal from richest town.
Beneath his flippant grin burns passioned skill
for bow of yew, swift arrow, and the kill.
In truth, so deadly are his eyes and hands
that fame flies with his arrows through the lands.
For love of queen and king, as it's released,
his bowstring sings the glory of the East.
For skill and service, both without a rest,
hangs Sagittarius upon his chest.

Thus do King Gryffith and Queen Aikaterine make Lord Hobbe Yonge a Companion in their Order of the Sagittarius on this thirteenth day of November, A.S. 45, at Bjorn's Ceilidh and Baronial Investiture in their Barony of Concordia of the Snows.
