Rhys-ap-Joseph (Tygers Cub)

The Order of the Tygers Cub
Coronation / First Court of Konrad & Brenwen
Awarded October 3, 2009 (A.S. XLIV - 44)

The first scroll assigned to me by the East Kingdom Signet, although not the first scroll I took on. I specifically chose to take on this scroll as Rhys is the son of one of our local members.

The only information I received regarding Rhys' persona was that "he is late period Scottish". I was attracted to the decorated versals in The Cartulary of Arbroath Abbey dated 1510 and felt it would suit as a basis for this scroll..

Words from the East Kingdom Signet Handbook (2009)

Be it known that we Konrad and Brenwen, King and Queen of the East have seen and heard much of the good works of our noble young servant Rhys-ap-Joseph, who has by virtue of his worthy behaviour and decorum at events within Our Realm, become a shining example to his fellows and bought much gladness to our people. Therefore are we pleased to welcome him into our Order of the Tygers Cub and bestow upon him the position of page to the Crown of the East that all shall know his virtues. By Our hand this third day of October A.S.44 at this Our first Court in our Barony of Concordia of the Snows.

It should be noted that the scroll photograph and transcription differ in the spelling of Her Majesties name. I corrected the scroll after taking the photograph.
